City Landscape

R66 is the only revolving restaurant in Hong Kong. It is at the Hopewell Centre, Wan Chai. The restaurant has a five-star panaramic view of the city. The decoration is cosy; the food is only mediore. I go to R66 not for food but solely for the magnificent view!

Old-Style Dim Sum House

It is difficult to find an old-style dim sum house in Hong Kong. There is one in Wan Chai called 廣東茶居. The one I am talking today is 周記茶餐廳, which is in Hong Kong Chai Main Street. The dim sum house opens at 5:00 am and closes at 3:30 pm. Traditional dim sums are served, which are all home-made. There is a dim sum called 燒卷 in the house, which can be rarely found in other restaurants. The taste is good and the combination is unique. The size of 碟頭飯 is "hugh". I guess it doubles the size of the one we usually see. The house is well-packed in lunch time. The nostalgic atmosphere and the friendly staff make 周記 a wonderfully eating place.

Lane Crawford's Cafe at IFC

Lane Crawford's Cafe, Costa, at IFC, is a reasonably convienent place to meet friends. The cafe has both indoor and outdoor areas. The outdoor area is quite spacious and with a panaramic view of Kowloon. Lavazza coffee is served, which costs only $35. Highly recommended.

Chiu Chow Hong, Episode 2, 潮州巷第二集

亭記小廚 is reopened at 1 Queen's Street. We tried a few signature dishes including 炸豆腐, 九菜雞紅, 沙爹牛肉炒河, and 蠔仔粥 the other night. The bean-curd, which was very crispy, was particularly good. The bill was only $90. There are several other Chiu Chow stalls in the same place. Will try them next time.

Ortiz Tuna

張建雄 says in his book "日本情調" that the Ortiz is the gourmet's choice for tuna. The tuna is available at the Great. I am looking forward to the taste of this yummy devil.

Update: I have finally tried the Ortiz tuna. The aroma was very strong as proven by my cat. He jumped into me when I was eating the tuna! I served the tuna with tomatoes, lettuces, and vinegar. The texture of the fish was a bit harsh but the tuna flavour was very strong.
